Meet the Founder
Peoples Private Learning Center was founded in September 2020 by Braielyn Peoples. Our founding Executive Director is a Charlotte Native who grew up in an impoverished area and became an educator to ensure the generations behind her would receive an equitable education. She ended her journey as a teaching professional at the beginning of the pandemic and moved into the nonprofit sector because she knew that economically disadvantaged students would not have the same opportunities for academic support as their peers. Students who had parents deemed essential workers were up for a challenge, and the start of PPL was to support students in a new remote world of education during these unprecedented times. As students moved back into the classroom the work continued with programs to assist disproportionately affected students of color, those impacted by poverty, and other vulnerable populations such as ELL students. Today, we have served over 285 students in Mecklenburg, Rutherford and Cabarrus County.
